Product Spotlight: Eco Friendly Razor Kit

What’s the first thing that pops into your mind when you think about switching to a completely eco friendly and sustainable lifestyle? Hairy legs and smelly armpits? We hope not! Because that’s surely not true. There hasn’t been a better time to live an eco friendly life because there are so many beautiful alternatives to almost anything and going green doesn’t mean you have to give up something. That only means you can make a conscious decision and choose a better and less wasteful alternative.

One of our most favourite and one of the easiest swaps in a bathroom is an eco friendly razor for many many reasons. We are going to look at some of them in this blog post followed by some tips on how to tame one yourself.

What’s wrong with a plastic razor anyway?

Like any other item made from plastic, razors are not biodegradable (usually they come wrapped in a plastic bag…) and they end up in landfill and are contributing to the global plastic waste crisis. Most of the companies advertise disposable razors as a single use or up to 10 shaves item. And statistics say that men in England are throwing away 1,120 tonnes of plastic razors a year. And that’s just the men and only from England.

Switching to an eco-friendly safety razor

The solution is simple, you can always go vintage and chose a traditional razor over the disposable one. If you have not tried it yet, expect to be impressed. The quality of this razor speaks for itself. It is heavier than your regular one, so you don’t need to apply any pressure, it does all the job for you. It gives you the closest shave and the smoothest skin.

When the razor blades wear off, you can simply replace them and recycle the old ones. Good news is, you have 5 extra blades already included in the kit. The added benefit of the eco friendly razor is the gap between the blade and the frame, allowing hairs to escape the head of the razor, rather than getting stuck like disposable heads.

Timeless design and complete sustainability

This eco friendly razor is made from stainless steel, it has a chrome plate over the top for extra aesthetics. The handle is made from rosewood sourced from a sustainable plantation.

It comes in a box which is made from 100% recycled cardboard and is also 100% recyclable. And if you want to go even deeper, the manufacturing of this box is done using renewable energy, reducing the impact on the environment. How cool is that? This is what we call complete sustainability!

Good quality shaving soap is a must

Another good thing about this kit is that it includes a shaving soap, so you don’t have to worry about picking the right one yourself. Vegan friendly, paraben, palm oil and cruelty free, this soap bar is packed full of essential oils and goodies for your skin. Orange and Lavender essential oils give this shaving soap an aromatherapy experience. Clay extracts help to create a silky smooth shave, and soothing aloe vera clams the skin, so it doesn’t get irritated after shaving.

Conclusion

Over the last couple of decades, all industries have been affected by the ‘fast’ trend. People were asking for quick solutions, fast food, fast fashion, fast media. And so we ended up with a closed mindset that simply cannot comprehend the fact that something could or should last us a lifetime. It simply turned us into a ‘throw-away’ generation.

But we are already seeing people adapting mindfulness practices in their lives, appreciating silence and desperately wanting to slow down. Let’s start with our everyday rituals and (grooming) habits. Let’s choose products that are going to last us a lifetime and let’s appreciate that, instead of mindlessly consuming and throwing stuff away.
